Nowadays, besides being favorite pets cats are also one of the main characters in Halloween. Why cats? There are many notes explaining the mystical connection. One of them says that early witches believed cats to be sacred that they were once humans but for their evil deeds were turned into cats. So witches involved them in their worship of Halloween. In past, cats, particularly black cats, were thought to bring bad luck so they were burned to get rid of that evil. Fortunately, not all the countries and cultures are similar. In Egypt, for example, cats were sacred creatures and in Japan they are supposed to bring good luck. Anyway, no matter what colour your cat has, the important thing is that you love your pet and enjoy its company and that presently only cats’ images are used for funny or scaring Halloween costumes and decorations. As for the witches of pagan religion, there are rumours that they still exist among us and on Halloween night they exercise their pagan rituals. That’s why adopting a cat is not allowed in October. A precaution to keep these creatures away from becoming victims of such events.
