An alternative for cats to not scratch couches and armchairs

Cat Friendly Sofa always underlines that hard surface is a must  for cat scratching and not just a bad habit as it seems to be. How funny would it be to teach our cats to sharpen their claws as women care about their nails. Well, to trim cat claws is a usual practice, but until now no cat attempts to do a real manicure like the one in the picture.

Declawing is a cruel and not necessary act

What if one day you wake up without your fingers? Any cat communicates using its paws and not only meowing. It uses it’s paws to clean itself and to knock at your bedroom’s door to be fed in the early morning. After a declawing operation your cat’s behaviour changes and no toy or tidbit can help it to understand why its life changed suddenly. That’s why Cat Friendly Sofa started a campaign against declawing. You have to be informed about all the consequences of your choice. A cat-proof couch cover is a valid alternative to declawing. Is there a cat breed that doesn’t scratch?

Generally, the fact that your cat belongs to a specific breed means it shares anatomic and behavioral features with the other cats of the same breed. The Ragdoll, for example, has the reputation as an easy-going and quiet cat, while the Devon Rex cannot stay too long alone without the company of its owner. Some study reports that the scratching attitude changes passing from a breed to another one. Well, Cat Friendly Sofa prepared for you this “Naughty-Nice List”, but mind that any cat is unique and special for its habits and attention it dedicates us and… our couch arms as well! Cat Scratching attitude

Why to quit on the idea of declawing

A confusing and hot topic for cat lovers is whether to declaw their beloved cat or not. A temptation that appears easy, quick and useful for YOU but not for the cat. To have a clear idea what declawing is let’s explain it on you. Look at your fingers. Look well. Now imagine the small bone that your fingernail covers cut. How does it feel? Not pretty well, right? So, your cat feels the same but doesn’t have a voice to express itself. Declawing is one of man’s aggressive influence on cats to make everything perfect for him. Want a cat? Have it! Want a cat on a sofa avoiding any further problems? Have it all… But try to think a little about your kitty that you love so much. There are so many ways to avoid scratched and destroyed soft furnitures. Some cats feel comfortable with a scratching post and some are not satisfied with it. Cat Friendly Sofa offers cat friendly cover for sofa/armchair arms and backrests that works perfectly with cats. One of the alternative solutions to declawing, if not the best!

Microfiber, does it really work against scratching?

Does microfiber work against scratching? Recently we found  a good number of notes about microfiber and its magical anti-scratch effects… Does it really work? A miracle called microfiber?

Well, actually, cats may show different behaviours. Sometimes cats may seem too lazy or don’t like your couch so much for scratching. Of course, there are such moments or such cats but not always. Anyway, even a lazy cat needs to sharpen its nails. Especially for indoor cats our couches seem something alluring and stimulate them to scratch. So the soft and smooth microfiber designed to resist your cat’s claws and considered to be unattractive for cats will, certainly, be destroyed soon. If the cat wants to scratch it will scratch your microfiber couch and, in the end, tear it to pieces. Microfiber is not a solution for sure, at least not for all cats.

Why I cannot lie on the couch?

If we could read our pet’s mind, maybe this would be the typical question they would have for us: “Why I cannot lie on the couch?“. Sometimes our cats behave  like real house owners, so no wonder if we see them ready to jump on our sofa to take a nap after eating their favorite food. In these cases, generally, we make them jump away from the sofa to prevent scratching.

No more concerns after covering the arms with Cat Friendly Sofa. Let’s enjoy our cats at home!
